Mark Swords, a contemporary Irish artist, recently finished a body of work culminating in a solo exhibition at The RHA. Mark aimed to utilise the book to document this creative journey and provide insight into his artistic method, creative process, and conceptualisation.
DESIGN INTENT
Our main aim was to highlight the solo exhibition. We emphasised clarity by differentiating the essays, the "Notebook" section, and the artworks. The book was designed to exude an ephemeral, notebook-like quality, and we used a typographic style inspired by brutalism with digital monotype headers. The layout was structured based on Mark's painting frames, creating an inviting showcase for the exhibition.
